How to Turn ON/OFF Hibernation Mode In Windows 7

Below are the steps to Turn ON/Enable hibernation mode

  1. Firstly, click on Start button and click on RUN tab.
  2. Now type "cmd" and of pressing Enter, press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run command prompt with all administrator rights.
  3. Or else open the folder, its path "C:\Windows\System32" and right Click on cmd.exe and choose the appropriate option to Run as Administrator
  4. Now, type "powercfg /hibernate on" and hit enter.
  5. Browse to the Control Panel >> System and Security >> Power Options.
  6. Now, click on the "Change plan settings" link of the active power plan.
  7. Now click on the "Change advanced power settings" tab.
  8. Now you need to expand the Sleep tree.
  9. Enable OFF option in the drop down box of Allow Hybrid Sleep in order to disable and turn off Hybrid Sleep.

Below are the steps to Turn off or Disable Hibernate:

  1. Click on Start.
  2. Type cmd. Now instead of pressing Enter, press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run cmd with administrator rights.
  3. or Browse to C:\Windows\System32
  4. Right Click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
  5. Type "powercfg /hibernate off" and hit enter.

Below are the steps to set the power button option as Hibernate,

  1. Click on Start.
  2. Right-Click on the Power Button.
  3. Click on Properties.
  4. Drop-down the Power Button Action Box.
  5. Select Hibernate.
  6. Click on Apply and then Click on OK.
