How to Recover product key (CD-Key) of Windows/MS-Office

By Sami
To recover your lost the product key of Windows XP or most versions of Office and have lost the CD case. Here is an small utility ProduKey which will display the ProductID and the CD-Key of MS-Office, Windows, Exchange Server, and SQL Server installed on your computer.

You can view this information for your current running operating system, or for another operating system/computer - by using command-line options. This utility can be useful if you lost the product key of your Windows/Office, and you want to reinstall it on your computer.

Download ProduKey

Default Works great but....

The product worked great EXCEPT that my computer is a DELL and it does NOT return the actual product key. So, after installation, when you go online to "Activate" with Microsoft, it says you have an invalid product key.

I have also found 3 other products and they all return the same key (the one that Dell enters into the registry), so I guess I am out of luck?

OK, maybe I am not completely out of luck. Further web surfing has revealed that since it successfully installed, but does not want to activate, it is possible that I only need to call Microsoft and get a new activation ID?

You should be able to view your current key in the registry under the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\wpaevents

Folder User Evasive Office 2003 key!

I have the same problem. I have downloaded every key search program I can find. None work. I have searched the Registry, find the proper place to read my new keys but this does not work.
I am purchasing the $39.95 SPOTMAU program for this very purpose.
Have I made the wrong purchase?
