Server dell wont read the 2 gbs of memory i just upgraded


ok i have a dell 4550 its been sitting in my closet for a bit so i finally got around to fixxing it just replaced all the calbles (ide,floppy,ect...) and upgraded the memory cuz i jacked the 512 tha was in it and put it in my other system. so it starts upfine and i try to intsall xp again from the dell resoure cd and the setup stops and say not enough memory installed xp needs 64 mbs. i have 2 gb in the thing of pc3200 i dont understand y the sytem olny says i have 32mbs any coments would be great im at a loss

hey dude,, i think u shud first check the HAL the system confg for installin win xp!! just a sugg try it might b of any help

ok how do i do that im kinda a noob for most of the systtems stuff i cant access windows xp thats on the harddrive if it is nt os systems so how do i check the HAL

what is the mobo in the system does it even support pc3200?
Be sure the sticks really are the same, if they don't match it will not load properly.

yea i think my board doesnt support 3200 which is GAYYYYYYYYYYY man thats sucks and sugestions from anyone were to go from here i am thinking i mite replace one of them with the pc2100 1 gbs i have and just backward compat them what you guys think

well you mentioned using the memory for another comp, could you put the old memory in and use your pc3200 in the other comp?

You cannot mix differeny types of RAM they do not read at the same speed or bus speed, thus the errors would be unbelievable... they have not allowed this in most hardware.
