Arrow Crash

In the last month my PC has crashed a few times.
Not back to back and never while doing similar things.
I do download a lot and I'm not sure I have a virus.
Could someone tell me how I could find out what is
going on if it's a virus or something else.
Any help will be appreciated.

RalphyG.

hi ralphy

I suggest you start with the basic but effective scanners like Malwarebytes, and the provide us with a HiJackthis Log

This previous discussion explains some details about running Malwarebytes and Hijackthis.

http://www.syschat.com/internet-expl...usly-6834.html

If you have an existing antivirus software, update it. Install Malwarebytes and update it as well. Install HiJackthis (we will use this for later)

boot into safe mode, do a full scan with your antivirus software. feel free to do a second scan with malwarebytes. after the two scans in safe mode, boot into normal windows mode, and then take a hijackthis log, and post it back here.

running the the antivirus and malwarebytes scan in safe mode is usually good enough to rid of existing virus. the hijackthis log will be a manual check that we;ll do to review the startup programs and settings on your computer

Thank you for the reply.
I will do as you state.
Though I may have to reinstall windows, some
apps will not work at all.
