Default Computer won't start in safemode

Hello

New to computing so very green.

Have Dell Inspiron just over 1yr old.

Recently when I plugged in the mains backup my computer crashed to a blue screen with white squiggles.

Did a bit of research and have run diagnostics and got...

2000-0123 memory integrity system failure

I also tried to put the computer back to factory installation but this failed with the message "there is a problem with windows and the machine will shutdown to protect the computer"

Really at a loss to know what's happening.

I only use my compuer for internet browsing. I don't store anything or have music downloads or play games etc.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

That was your answer. You have a failed memory stick...to verify this ...download memtest ISO image zip file and burn it to Cd to create a self booting diagnostic CD. Boot to the CD and run the test for a few hours and if there are any errors then the memory stick that failed will HAVE to be replaced.

Default Dead Computer

Hi knewuser

Sounds like you have the same problems I had when I tried the SB-3!
My computer started acting wierd and would hardly do anything and then went to black screen! Tried to go to Safe Mode, couldn't even do that!
Decided the best all around thing to do without wasting hours and hours was to completely reformat and reinstall Win XP Prof. After the installation, had no problem to worry about.
Just recently, I attempted to install MS SilverLight program, things started to act odd so I took it off but it cause a problem that I haven't found yet.
I can't run PrintArtist 22 Platinum! Co. sent a new one, no luck after removing and reinstalleing each one about 3 times! I think I need to reinstall my IE-6. Went to Ms but they are pushing Vista with IE-7. Couldn't find anywhere 6 was mentioned or any help for XP Prof. All Vista!
Everything works, or appears to be ok on this computer, just won't run PA!

Regards:

Old Timer

Default Ie-6 Installation

Hi Wombat,

Thanks so much for the info, I ran it and reinstalled IE-6 but that didn't appear to cure the problem! Probably have to uninstall PrintArtist and see if it will install properly now since I have the IE-6 renewed..
Had an odd experience when first tried the install! Internet options would come up when I clicked on OutLook Express! Re installed both IE 6 & Outlook Express and hopefully all is well now!
Thanks again,

Old Timer

Old Timer:

I have not used PrintArtist since Win 95, and I had forgotten all about it till you mentioned it. Sorry I cannot help with that problem...

Default PA help

Hi Wombat,

Yes I remember the 95 days! I have used PrintArtist all this time and kept up on the latest versions. My PA 21 works fine! I wanted the 22 for the graphics as they are more like real photos instead of watercolors. Also the main program supposed to be much better. Guess I'll have to check it out on my spare computer as it appears to work on it. This has really got me buffaloed!
It just may be this version of XP. Maybe, Just Maybe, if I tried to repair this computer using my other OS disk and this code key, It just may work but I'm very afraid it will mess things up and nothing else appears to be malfunctioning! So, I think that is a tabled move!
