I just purchased a USB Device and for some reason, whenever I insert it, my computer freezes up. I have tried uninstalling the USB drives and reinstalling them to no avail. Does anyone have an alternative solution?

Without knowing your computer specs I would say you have Windows 98. Flash drives don't work well with 98 OS. If it is XP let me know.
