Default asrock motherboard

I have a asrock 775VM8 bd with celeron D 2.8 chip. 1gig ddr ram
My problem is many lockup and shut downs.
I've had this problem with 2 different hd and new 512 ram cards,\.
removed cd and floppy drives and allcards so only running
hd ram chip mb
voltage is good were checked with 3 meters hook up
this happens any time on boot up or after 6 hours.
chip operating temp 46c
could this be motherboard problem and if so what is a good
replacment for home use?
Thanks

lock ups and random restarts can be caused by many things, motherboards can be one of them, but the first thing to look at is the programs installed. Under the task manager what is the CPU % and if possible could you list the processes running?

with only 45 it sounds like it's probably ok. In actuality you only need 3 or 4 to run XP, ~6 with networking, but i won't get into that.

with all the swaps you've tried it does sound like a mobo issue. You could use the same one, there's no issue there, when i built this computer i had a fried mobo and processor, but after getting them replaced i'm more than satisfied with the result, sometimes mass production makes a mistake, it sucks, but you just hope it's still under warranty

how many dims of RAM are you using, and how many slots are on your board? Also which type of ddr are you using? PC333, PC133, etc?

Default motherboard

out of warranty 2X512mb ram ddr pc3200 with two slots.
I'd to go with a 775 slot and ddr ram I think chip if fine and i
tried new ram but hard to find right mobd, there are times when
it will work for hours and other times it will go black on
boot. good thing i kept old 800hz ibm slow but never lock up

try with only 1 dim of RAM, i have on more than a few occassions found that a slot on the mobo does not work, or there are seemingly untracable errors/restarts associated with full RAM slots.
