Default Any Skypers here?

Anybody here use Skype? I'm eShutterBUG if anybody wants to talk but I'm not on much. For those of you who don't know (I can't imagine you don't) it's a fantastic program where you can talk with other people via microphones. I use it occasionally and the quality is great if you all have good internet connection.

I just recently went out and bought a headset to play around with it. I have actually tested it to make some oversea calls too. I am thinking about getting a skype phone number so people can call me. I have family in another state and it would be good if they could all call me with a local call.

What is skype I had never heard of it before? Is it like Vonage? My neighbors have that, but they always complain about it.

Do you all know???

A new Web site promises to let people make cheap phone calls over the Internet without using a microphone, a headset or software.

To use Jajah (based in Menlo Park), a person needs to go to Jajah.com and enter his home phone number -- either a land-line or mobile phone number -- and the phone number he wishes to call.

Skype is like a PC to PC calling client (they refer to themselves as P2P telephony network) they also have Voip (i.e. you can call someone's phone from your computer and tak to them just like you would on a phone, but through the internet). And it is totally free (except for Voip of course). So if you want to talk to somebody in some other part of the world with a pc and internet connection you can use Skype instead of calling them.

Yup, its interesting that they released this service around April 1st though, so I was actually skeptical about it... but this seems to be a very interesting way of communicating (especially all the pranks you can do).

Wanted to add that Skype is great for talking to other Skype users.
What's even more handy is SkypeOut feature, since you can call anyone with,
Of course it does cost around 3 cents to call US number and some countries can be really expensive, but for most countries it is a viable option.

Then there is SkypeIn which is pretty damn cheap for answering service AND your own call-in number, last I checked it was $4 a month for both. Oh, did I mention that people can call you at at that number and if you are online in Skype you will get the call. Pretty cool, eh?

Man, I sound like a talking ad for Skype, in fact I really dislike the fact that eBay bought Skype.
