Default another dual boot problem thread.....

hey guys

heres the story, i have 2 hard disks, both sata

i upgraded my pc from xp to vista on my old hard disk thinking it would format the drive for me

through the installation i was given no option to format when i told it to install on c:\

i now am running a dual boot from the same hard disk, therefore, same partition and want to get rid of xp, even if it means formatting the drive again

more info that might help is that i installed it by booting from cd through bios....ummm, thats about all i can think of for now

any help would be much appreciated!!

cheers

To have a fresh installation of Vista over existing XP, boot from DVD drive. This method works if you have one partition, e.g. Drive C, is Active.

upgrade versions of vista do not normally format as this destroys the saved data from the old operating system.

There is a proceedure for doing a clean installation using an upgrade installation disc.
