If Norton found it and placed the infectious file in quarantine then it is probably safe to say that you are ok.

To be sure, Have Norton run its scanner in safemode . It should be able to tell you if all is well then. If need be run it twice to make sure it is all gone.

To run in safe mode.
start your computer and immediately start toggling the F8 key to bring up the start-up page and choose to start in safe mode. allow your computer to continue to strat safemode till your desktop comes up black with icons and safemode in the 4 corners then navigate to the all programs > Norton and run the program.

All it to either quarantine or delete all that is found.

Keep trying till it works. Do not just press and hold down or press only one time...toggle(press and release quickly, continuously) it quickly.

If you can not still get it to work then do this:

Start >run and type
msconfig
then use the enter button
in the pop up window choose the BOOT.INI tab
then select the multi(0)disk(0)partition(1)......in the window and it should open the greyed out boxes below the window...put a tic in the safe Boot box then click oK and reboot the computer. It will reboot and auto start in safemode.
After running the anti-virus and your anti malware/spyware applications in safe mode you will have to repeat the steps and uncheck the box to normally boot your system.

in norton go to the quarantine page and highlight or check the file and click to delete. It should remove it then.

Norton not running in safe mode just gives us another reason to keep from using this program.....any antivirus worthy of being installed should be able to run in safe mode...period and without question.

These are some other things that you can do to make sure the problem does not come back...

You will need to google these tools :

Malwarebytes (free version) malware protection
ATFcleaner ........cleans all temp files and prefetch files
spywareblaster malware protection
Ccleaner......free program to clean temp url files and history as well as temp files and also has a decent registry cleaner that should be used a couple of times a year.

manually remove all but the last system restore point.......if your system is running ok and everything seems to be just fine, then i recommend that you do this from time to time...
start > rt.click My computer > properties > system restore tab turn off system restore and reboot your computer and then navigate back and turn it back on. Bad files like to hide within the protection of the system restore file system and they need to be removed and this cleans the old files and crap out of your computer.
