Cannot start windows XP
 

Windows XP could not start because the follwing file is missing or corrupt:
\Windows\System32\config\system

Do not have a CD key available.... misplaced just cannot find...:eeek:

Is it possible to copy the files I need from another computer with Windows XP onto a CD and copy to the computer that needs them??

Try booting it from floppy disk. If you don't have xp boot disk, You can download Windows XP Quick Boot Diskette and create one.

To recover your product key so that you may re-install if necessary, download the file ProduKey from http://www.syschat.com/download80.html

Start WinXP in Safe mode if possible and run the program, Voila' You have your current prduct key
