"trend" To The Rescue

TrendSecure : Total Security Protection

Down at the left, tap on the "House Call" icon.

Tap on the "Launch HouseCall..." up at the right.

After the "work" is done...look around for Trend's Sysclean and set it up on your system...don't forget to download the latest "pattern files" for insertion in the c:\sysclean folder

Sysclean will work in or out of the Windows environment, but works best if you do it in safe mode... Trend Micro Look for this section: "If you are not a Trend Micro customer please download the following file." Download and install the Sysclean Package and set it up in the folder c:\sysclean then run it from there at all times. then zip over to Trend Micro and download the latest patten files. Insert the new pattern into the sysclean folder.

"Virus Pattern Files / Cleanup Templates
The Virus pattern file protects customers against viruses.
The Virus cleanup template automatically removes the virus from the customer's system.

* Virus Pattern File (Official Pattern Release) - 4.617.00
>>* Virus Pattern File (Controlled Pattern Release) - 4.618.04
* Virus Cleanup Template - 882"

Download the >> file as it is the first one plus a wee bit of an update.
Go into safe mode, search out the sysclean.com file and tap on it...after a bit of churning about, 6-7 new files will appear. Tap on "sysclean.exe" and read the instructions...and bob's your uncle! It will unfurl a ton of virus killers so be patient and let it do its thing...it may take up to 45 minutes or so to really clean things up, depending on the number of files you have on your system, and it checks every single one! Everything is self-explanatory.

Later, download and install "HiJackThis" This is the same as the old HiJackThis program, but since Trend bought it out, it is now the "new and improved" version.

I highly recommend PC-cillin's Internet Security (free trial): TrendSecure | Download

I have used PC-cillin for many years and have never been unhappy with it...or any Trend product.

if you could post your hijackthis log it would be a great help in potentially seeing the issue, or at least if it's still on your system.
