PC Fan constantly ruunning hard,USB issues
 

Hi this is for windows xp home edition ,my cpu fan is running hard and it isnt makeiing any klanking or squealing noise just like it is on high gear speed and it never shuts off never.i was looking and looking around and i dont know if this has anything to do with it but the power options are set to never hybernate never turn monitor off etc.and something about a UPS service .. i found it didnt know if maybe this had something to do with it because never one time has that fan not ran real hard or got real quit ever my also different question here same computer I normally have to turn it off for reasons known and everytime i go to restart it it dont detect the keyboard or plug in mouse so i have to normally restart it like 3 or 4 or more time to get it to aknowledge it i finally got a cordless mouse and keyboard for it that works fine but those ports are messed up and sometimes i get a microsoft message says that my computer has shut down abruptly to recover or it has just recoverd from a serious error and i got a usb one to that made a lil since they wanted me to turn off the power management thing in advanced under the usb controller dropdown to the usb off so that it would never power down i did that but then well with the way old speedy gonzales is running over here i best not do that so i turned it back on I dont know if this is description enough for these issues I sure hope so and maybe just maybe someone can help

hello, with regards to the fan issue:

its always best to set the fan settings on the motherboard bios to automatic. there are temperature and fan speed sensors on each motherboard. depending on the motherboard brand and model number,

some has the behaviour of maintaining a constant fan speed -- thus making sure that good air is always blow to cool the cpu

some have a behavior that watches the cpu temperature, when it gets to a certain temperature it blows harder -- to cool the cpu better (and of course it will make some more buzz/humming noises). then when the cpu is cooler, it reduces speed to almost very slow (that you hear like the fan isnt spinning)

overtime the fans will degrade in speed and will cause some noise. this can be fixed (or we can say that we can extend the life of the cpu fan) by cleaning the fan and applying a tiny drop of oil to better the spinning. the noise brought about by older fans can be remedied by screwing it a bit tighter to the heatsink, AND/OR putting some non-flammable padding material to snugly fit the fan and heatsink.

with regards to the power settings..

again it think its best to leave the power settings to the defaults provided by your desktop/laptop manufacturer. windows can manage your power settings Or you can let the default power settings software of the laptop manufacturer to work.

here in my office laptop.. ive let the Lenovo Power Manager settings do the work.. ive set it to "balanced/automatic" mode

**newer computers can automatically adjust the processor performance and power consumption. depending in the amount of work you do on the computer, you can set it to give priority to low power mode, or set it to prioritize high power mode for more consistent fast performance.

with regards to the usb ports..

try using only the back USB ports on your computer. the front usb ports are only extension usb ports. sometimes the extension cable to the small cirucuit board that handles the front usb ports would malfunction. ive experience front usb port problems in two computers. ive found that the back usb ports are more reliable.

well just so happens that my front ones are good usbs that is ,the ones i am haveing issues mainly are the keyboard and mouse ports a couple on the back dont work though i seen sparks one time i was like oh hell lol anyway my power setting thing doesnt look nothing like that ,its like mine is from fred flinstone days any way i was doing some reading and i came acroos an article about the usb and that they would cause that and that they needed to be uninstaled and reinstalled but wouldnt you know that i dont have that page .thx for ur input man appreciate it
