most often it is a sound driver that is missing.
Open your device manager:
right click my computer
choose properties
select the hardware tab
and click the button that says "Device Manager"

Check for an item in this list that has a yellow icon with a ! in the middle, likely there will be at least one associated with your audio.

double click it, and a new dialog should open.
under the driver tab there should be an option to install or update driver, choose that and put your windows cd in the drive and be sure to include that drive in the search. Should take a minute or so and Windows will re-install the sound drivers.

If you need more help, do not hesitate to post

Default Sound won't play

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. My computer will not play any sound, although the mixer is showing that sound should be playing. All of my drivers are installed properly, and all are working correctly, or so they say. I have tried reinstalling my driver. There are no exclamation points.

This problem happened after my computer's power source got pulled twice in a row (both times while playing League of Legends). The cord literally got pulled form the wall, and both times I just chose the start computer normally option.

PLEASE ADVISE

Default My laptop has no sound too

It seems that we have met the same issue, I have a Lenovo G560, it has no sound without the headset. I have checked all the drivers, everything is OK. I really can't find out what the matter is.

Default Quick Fix

Found a fix to the sound problem. I just went to my local microcenter and bought a $10 USB sound card. All I had to do was plug it in. Works great with no problems - very happy with the purchase.

You can probably find them everywhere, bestbuy or newegg. All you would search for is USB sound card.
