Loading windows to Unix server

Hi, I'm new so please accept my apoligies in advance for being technicly challenged.

I have a unix server that has been used in bussiness that I would like to install windows 98 onto.
It has a cd-rom yet it will not load it self. There are no versions of windows on the server.
I realize that I will have to put in some form of commands, herein lies my delimma.
Any help would be much appreciated.....thanks

Your first job is to reformat the drive, as it will probably be using a non-Windows supported filesystem such as NFS.

You may be able to do this using a Windows 98 Boot Disk (assuming you have a floppy drive in the machine), which can be created from the Windows CD or downloaded from the Internet. Simply insert this disk, boot up the machine and choose to boot with CD-ROM support. From there, you should be able to run the Windows 98 setup, which will ask you whether you want to format the drive. Select yes, and from there you should be able to just install Windows.

It is strange that you cannot boot from the Windows CD, though I've had some trouble in the past. Usually using a boot diskette and installing it from the CD from a prompt works.

If you are in doubt about any of the steps, just give us a shout here and we'll go into a bit more detail for you.

John
