How would the battery of the motherboard affect the PC?

Every motherboard has a battery. If the battery were to run out eventually, what would be the consequence? How will this affect the PC?

The Battery on the Motherboard of a PC works almost like Memory. It is there to perform such jobs as holding system time and date when the Computer is unplugged. Hope this helps.
