How to Access Frequently Used Items using Jump List

Microsoft Windows 7 created a feature that lets you easily access files, folders and websites you used recently. It is called the Jump list feature and works like the “My Recent Documents” feature from the previous Windows versions.

Below is a step-by-step guide that you can follow to quickly access your most frequently used items on your Windows 7 system:

1. First, you need to right click the program icon on your Windows 7 Taskbar. We will use Windows Media Player in this tutorial. Right click on its icon and you will notice that you can also pin the application’s icon on your Windows 7 Taskbar.

2. Click on the first letter of an item to jump between them right after you launch the Windows 7 jump list.

3. After some time, you may want to clear out the jump list history on the system. To do this, right-click on the Start button and select Properties. Next, press the Start Menu tab and remove the check mark from this option: "Store and display recently opened items in the Start Menu and the Taskbar."

4. Another way of dong this is by using the short keys on your keyboard. Windows 7 included a built-in shortcut key for this cool feature. The key can launch the Jump Lists for nine of the most recent icons on the taskbar. Use Win+Alt+1 to open the Jump List.
