Delivering business demands for increased computing power on the go, Dell today announced the Dell LatitudeTM D620 and Latitude D820 -- slimmer and lighter notebook computers featuring the power of Intel® CoreTM Duo processors and the flexibility of optional wireless broadband technology.

"As mobile computing has become mission critical for businesses of any size, Dell found that customers care about durability, security and constant access to critical business information," said Alex Gruzen, senior vice president, Dell product group. "These new Latitude systems address and exceed these customer needs in robust design, comprehensive security options, integrated mobile broadband and significant reductions from the prior generation products in weight and thickness."

With a starting weight of 4.4 pounds1, the Latitude D620 includes an Intel Core Duo T2300 processor and a 14.1-inch wide aspect XGA display. The $1,149 base configuration includes 512MB shared2 DDR2 memory, 40GB3 SATA hard drive and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capability.

A base configuration for the Latitude D820 (starting weight 5.6 pounds4) is $1,289 and includes an Intel Core Duo T2300 processor with a 15.4-inch wide aspect XGA display, 512MB DDR2 shared2 memory, 40GB3 SATA hard drive and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi capability. Advanced upgrade options for the D820 include the NVIDIA Quadro® NVS 120M business graphics solution with 512MB5, a high-resolution WUXGA display and 120GB3 hard drive.

Next-Generation Notebooks Packed with Features

In 2005, more business customers worldwide chose Dell Latitude notebook computers over any other business notebook.6 The business notebook market is experiencing rapid growth as mobile users confirm the benefits of wireless Internet access, with a year-on-year increase in unit sales of 25 percent worldwide (excluding Dell) for 2005. During this period, Dell experienced almost 37 percent increase in year on year growth and achieved market share of 19 percent.

Building on this success, Dell proactively worked with customers to develop features and design enhancements.

carrier choices of Cingular Wireless or Verizon Wireless

with embedded support for Computrace theft recovery and

and finish while protecting sensitive internal components.

- Sealed, spill-resistant keyboards, full-time hard drive
protection with StrikeZone(TM), metal-reinforced security
slots are included standard.

Available now, the D620 and D820 feature Intel Core Duo processors and are fully compatible with Latitude notebook accessories shipped since 2003 including docking stations, optical drives and power adapters. Adhering to Dell's Design for the Environment program, both new systems meet the requirements of the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive.9

The new systems feature the Latitude three-year limited warranty10 with Next-Business-Day On-site Service.11
