Can I save a video trailer?

I want to save a bit of a video trailer for a DVD presentation for a science class. Is that possible to do?
I'm running VISTA and have moviemaker software installed. I tried to just import it but it's telling me I need a codec. How do I do that? I did google Codecs but I'm not sure what I need to download.
Thanks for any help.:hippie:

I use the K-Lite codec pack, there is no malware and is safe to download and install...

Free-Codecs.com : Download K-Lite Codec Pack 3.8.5 FULL, K-Lite Codec Pack 3.8.5 STANDARD, K-Lite Codec Pack 3.8.5 BASIC : K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools

Just install, it and the codecs are then available to whatever video app requires one to operate...
