AVG Anti-Virus updates tips and discussions
 

I have received numerous emails regarding AVG update problems, here are some of the tips for solving it.

1. For people who are having trouble downloading the virus definitions.

Follow these instructions below.

Navigate to your AVG install directory and rename your existing url.ini file to url.iniold.

Copy the following and paste into notepad and save it as url.ini. Put this new file into your AVG install directory. You'll now have 3 options to select from with grisoft.com being the default.

2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3

2. Repair AVG Update file if it is damaged

Download update file manually from AVG Anti Virus: Updates

Save it to your desktop
Check for Updates -> point it to the update file downloaded.

This is a very good thing. I got my updater repaired. Thanks for that Sami. Now i can use the updater inside AVG to download updates instead of downloading them from the site.:)
