Flag Red anonymous surfing in wireless

greetings everyone, i am new here and this will be my first post. i am using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and am running Windows XP SP2 on an adhoc basis on virtual box. my problem lies in anonymous browsing, anti censorship and anti jamming. in the wireless network i share, my administrator has blocked many a websites. while i do not feel the need to surf explicit material but others when i cannot reach it gets really annoying. the following screen shot was taken while i was using xp on virtual box:

i have tried ultrasurf, tor and freegate, but none to satisfying level. while tor and ultrasurf absolutely fails to access, freegate is on the other hand magnificient but fails when i have to log on to any website such as mails, any social networking sites, etc.
i believe my admin is using squid, my ip details is 172.16.0.16 and port 3128
any help please? a solution for linux will be most appriciated( am using Ubuntu 8.04)
[p.s. already tried tor and no idea how on earth am i supposed to configure and use anonproxy once i have installed it?]
