trouble Installing Windows XP on a T3604 E-Machine.

I have a T3604 that came with Windows Vista on it. I am trying to install Windows XP because Vista is not what we like. I have fdisked the 110 gig hard drive into 2 drives because format was not showing it as a 110. It has no floppy drive so I made a bootable DVD of windows 98SE with the files needed. I then run smartdrv.exe from 98SE and then winnt.exe from XP I386.
Everything goes fine till the reboot while installing then I get a PCI.SYS ERROR. I have e-mailed the company and it seems the mother board is a clone from Gateway with the intel name on it and used by E-Machine. They did send me mail back with the web address to get updates and I got the BIOS update also which has been applied. But I still get a PCI.SYS error when installing and it stops. Is there any way XP can be installed on this computer??
Thank You.
Bruce...
