Hello Sam, you might want to try the FDISK command as Cobalt mentioned.

You can try using a 98/ME floppy start-up disk, let it start your PC, or use the newer version on your XP CD.

Type in FDISK and view your partition information, this should tell you wether the XP partition is still there, it will also tell you which is the active partition.

To have both of them on you need to have 98 installed first and for the 98 to see the XP, the XP installation must be FAT32. ( at the moment your windows98 can't see the NTFS volume of your XP)

Obviously if you,ve already installed the XP partition as NTFS, it's irreversible.

If you managed to find the XP partition and you haven't overwritten the boot sector with 98 you might be able to activate it.

As you want your XP data back, and you want both OS' on, you will have to back-up your data and start again in the right order.

If you managed to recover your data, after installing windows98, install XP again and make sure you select the 'New Installation' option.

Good Luck!

Martin
