maybe try using the back usb ports?
the front usb ports are usually just wired extensions to the internal usb port that is near the circuits of the back usb ports. maybe there is a fluctuation of power happening in the current usb port.

also, try using the a dual usb cord - one end is for data transfer, and the other is for drawing backup power
