Default pendrive problem

I got a problem with my USB drive.
The USB drive is detected when i plug it to the USB port but the properties of the removable hard drive shows 0 free space and 0 used space. When anything is tried upon it, like opening the drive or sending data to it, it says, insert a disk. I tried to format the drive too but it says "Error in IOCTL call". So nothin is workin...
