Default Dual boot Vista & XP (Vista pre-installed); XP boot halts.

Hi, i have Toshiba L300-1FQ laptop with Vista Home Premium pre-installed. As Vista would not support my GeniusHR6X scanner so decided to have dual OS with XP. XP would not install untill i changed the SATA mode to Compatibility from AHCI. Installation of XP went fine. Later after installation loaded .NET framework 2.0 then VistaBootPro 3.3.0. Set right the Manage OS Entries. Copied ntldr & ntdetect.com in root directories (Vista C:\ and XP D:\). On booting the system showed both OS. I am able to boot into Vista now but while booting in XP 'missing:\ntldr' is shown and system asks to Exit or Continue. Kindly help me boot into XP too. Further, can i revert my SATA mode back to AHCI. Will it affect anyway and how?
