Windows Vista's Filepicker keeps on crashing

Hi, this is going to be my first post at this site. So bear with me here.

Lately my filepicker has kept crashing on me all the time now. Whenever I try to open, save as, or upload a file it'll crash the program. And I have no idea why this is doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is my laptop info:

Hp Compaq C500
windows vista sp1 operating system
32- bit processor
512 mgs of ram.

Get more ram for starters, at least get 2 gigs.

Just because Microsoft say you can use Vista with 512 megs it does mean it run applications smoothly and without any hassles.

You are now finding this out with Filepicker crashing etc...

Three tips that I have found in repairing this issue.

1)Turn off AERO and see if that helps.

2)If not look for a bad shortcut file on your desktop.....create a new folder and drag and drop all the desktop icons into the folder. open the folder and try to use each icon seperately....the bad one should close down the program...just delete the bad one and create a new one and you should be set to go.

3 this one takes a regestry edit

Open the run application and type the following

regsvr32 /u lmpgspl.ax and hit enter

After it is done change the file to lmpgspl.ax.old

lmpgspl.ax is a file from from Ligos Corporation the command unregisters this file. The file is part of a codec and is not truely Vista ready and has been known to dreate these type of issues

Hope this helps
