Use Your Phone as a Remote Power Point Clicker
 

If you’ve been in that spot where you suddenly need to do a Power Point Presentation, you can get less of the logistics worries and focus more on your actual content, by enabling your phone as a remote controlled Power Point clicker.

In this article, I’ll share with you a clever way of substituting the usual laser pointers and mouse clickers that come with most screen projectors.

PowerPoint Keynote Remote is a free app that is available for Android and iOS devices. It allows you to turn your phone or tablet into a remote Power Point clicker. With this, you worry less about when to signal for moving forward or back to the next slide, and you are free to move within any range from the screen projector receiver, and no longer have to worry about pointing the laser pointer to the limited view of the projector.

This article walks you through the installation. Be reminded that there are two main steps to the installation.

The first step is to install the PowerPoint Keynote Remote App on your phone/tablet. The second step is to install the PowerPoint Keynote Remote Server on your PC.

PowerPoint Keynote Remote | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

The steps below walk you through the installation on an Android device. The steps are similar for iOS and Windows Phone devices.

1. Upon installation of the PowerPoint Keynote Remote App, make sure that your computer and your phone are connected to the same wifi network.

The steps below walk you through the second part of installation - the PowerPoint Keynote Remote Server component on a PC

1. Install the appropriate PowerPoint Keynote Remote Server based on your computer OS (Windows or Mac)

2. The next steps below show the installation on a Windows computer. During the installation, you may be prompted to install additional components for Windows and Microsoft Office.

3. Upon installation, Windows Firewall will ask if you want to block or unblock the PowerPoint Keynote Remote Server on your PC. Choose to Unblock

4. When the PowerPoint Keynote Remote Server is actively running on your PC, the status shows as below. You can now go to your phone/tablet and connect your device to the computer.

5. Your Android device detects your computer that is running PowerPoint Keynote Remote Server. Click on the computer name to establish the connection.

6. Your device and computer are now connected! The device app detects the PowerPoint file that is running on your computer. Click Slideshow to begin presenting.

7. Navigate through your Power Point Slide through the forward and back buttons
