Suggest smthin-Error in IOCTL call.

I got a problem with my USB drive.
The USB drive is detected when i plug it to the USB port but the properties of the removable hard drive shows 0 free space and 0 used space. When anything is tried upon it, like opening the drive or sending data to it, it says, insert a disk. I tried to format the drive too but it says "Error in IOCTL call". So nothin is workin. I tried low level formattin utilities too but they did not work at all. Any idea of what should i do to make my USB usable?

Normally I would think that the drive has yet to be made active. But...when low level formatting utillities shows that it can't be formatted (they would spot whether the drive was active or not) then I would say that the drive is dead.

Sounds like it's either dead or has a virus. There are some specific virus's just for USB drives. See if you can get a Anti-Virus engine to scan it. Also they do have a limited life. So if you were using it for something that is write intensive a cheap drive will fail pretty quickly.
