Simple Network Q
 

Okay I finally am getting RoadRunner broadband service cause I can actually get it now(yes I live in the middle of nowhere)

The problem is I SUCK at networking but I have a general idea of it.

I have two desktop computers to have connected, from what I gather, I need to get a router to connect to the modem, and connect the two PCs. Both computers have ethernet cards, the other one Im not sure of but I have a 1394 net adapter(if that helps?)

If anyone can give me a crude explanation of what I need to do, or if I got the idea right.

unless you have a dialup modem the network cable will only plug into the proper ethernet hole.
plug the 2 comps into the router and the router into the modem and voila, internet.

*you may want to plug a single comp into the modem first to setup the username/password in the router, but this is minimal and your package likely comes with a cd to help you install, otherwise there will be an ip to type in to access these pages to type the information.
