Router distance

Hi,
I just had wireless high speed internet put on our house... It is 256k, I have a building where I want to have an office it is about 450 ft. away from the house.... Will a wireless router reach that far, or can I run cat5 cable? And if a router will work what would be the best one for this situation to get?
Thanks

Hi Travis,

Usually wireless routers range is 100m (328 ft).

You can try Linksys WRT54G router as Javester said here (http://www.syschat.com/2382-post10.html) They run on Linux and being so, a lot of hobbyist have created alternative firmware distributions that allow you all kinds of amazing functionality, e.g. boost the signal 10x over, QoS for reliable VoIP, use "alternative" channels, WDS, VPN, etc. etc....

And you can also use Wireless-G Range Expander to expand the range of your router.
