Partition and formating drive

Hi

I have just reloaded Window XP home as I was having a number of problems with error codes which I could not fix!
I have never done this before and followed the guidlines to the best of my ability. When I restarted my computer I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had worked:) however when I was loading Microsoft office and other software that I wanted I have found that I have only given C drive 20GB out of the 80GB, can I allocated the 60GB to drive C or do I have to reinstall the OS again!

Just Boot system from windows XP or windows 2000 bootable CD. after when you press F8 key for windows license agreement, you get the screen for windows XP installed and after that remaining HDD space. remember you have already made the partition for C:drive, you just have to create unpartitioned space, select unpartition space tag>insert Amount of space which want for other D: or E: drives & at the end format same drive.

You can increase your partition size to take up the rest of the drive by using a non destructive partition manager.

XP has a built in partitioner as well, since the 60GB likely has no data on it any way, even if it does you can extend your windows ( C: ) partition from within XP itself.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion, sounds like this is the solution for me but what do you mean by "non destructive partition manager"!

Thanks I have tried this method but I am having difficulties getting to boot using F8 key. What I would like to do is have all 80GB on one drive if poss!

If you want to use XP follow William_Wilson instructions in his link or use this one.
How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows XP

Non destructive - some older programs can not change the partition without losing (destroying) your data.

Or use Gparted GParted -- Download
Instructions to resize. GPARTED DOCUMENTATION - RESIZING

Thanks to you all

You can simply add the extra space by using a partition manager. For example Acronis. That's not for free, possibly there is freeware software too.
