Hi loneranger,

Welcome to SysChat.

Sometimes different software applications designed to protect or enhance your system can interfere with downloading videos or music. If you have any of the applications listed below running on your computer, please check the instructions on how to configure them to protect your computer system while working with MSN Video Downloads.

I believe that it might increase speed (if you are using really slow internet) but it will reduce the quality as well. So since the quality might be lower you might be able to download the videos faster. If I am correct MSN Dial-up accelerator is something like 'Google Web Accelerator' so you won't really notice all that much difference :(

my parents use dial-up and i have found few things that are able to accelerate it's speed.. it's just slow. If you have an adequite amount of RAM, this is about as much as you can do on the hardware end. As for accelerators, they all claim to imcrease your speed by 300% or something lame like that... if you read the fine print they are actually limiting the images, etc you download, the size and quality is also comprimised as Risherz mentioned.
The best thing to do, is use a pop-up blocker to save bandwidth that way, also try increasing the cache size of webpages, this will use more harddrive space, but for infrequently updated sites it will dramatically increase your view time.
*You may also wish to try using ftp, for downloads, etc, this will illiminate the graphic component all together and leave only the directory view.

Risherz my current speed is like 46.6 or sometimes 54.4kbps. So will i need to use it?

Yeah, you can use it if you wish (it isn't a necessity), since the speed is slow. The quality might not be good though, but I'm sure it'll still take a while to download the video. Many people I talk to say that such accelerators only improve the caching of the web pages (some sites say that it's better to disable them while downloading music from them) so that it is going to load faster, and don't actually affect media files as much, but I'd say that you give it a try.

That's right. Accelerators are not of much use, though I remember GetRight had a good function to truncate files and download them simultaneasly in case there is a speed limitation by the server.

Other than that, they only use memory.
