MPAA suing Torrent Sites
 

No cause for alarm as of yet, but for those interested in downloading (even legal) from such sites as torrentbox and www.isohunt.com the MPAA is attempting to sue them and many other P2P sites.
Even if you don't support them with funds, you should be informed on this. Check out the isohunt site, or read the press release http://www.mpaa.org/press_releases/2006_02_23.pdf.

A very disconcerting trend
 

Once again, MPAA has come to the party belatedly, and instead of innovating and taking advantage of technology, they are going the litigious route and suing...

Man, haven't they learned from the MP3 debacle?!? Remember when the Music Industry was melting down around 2001 when iTunes came along?

The whole industry was in panic as CD sales were going down double digits...

Now, 1 billion legal downloads later, the same music industry is pushing Apple to increase prices...

It's like they're going to kill the duck that laid the golden egg again... :angry:

Wasn't it a year or so ago that Supranova was shut down.
Still hasn't slowed down torrents.

It is like fighting a flood with one bucket.

If you look hard enough, you can even find Suprnova again, under a different name... :)
As it is legal to own a backup of anything you own, it will never be totally taken down until the laws are changed.

What are they suing them for? If they provide legitimate files how can they be sued for that?

I hate the scare tactics the MPAA takes with its CUSTOMERS. Instead of being focused on trying to provide better and more desierable delivery mechanisms, they are wasting our time suing their customers. I hate it.
