Make your drive faster in Vista

Did you know that with Windows Vista, it is possible to write caching to increase the speed of your computer when writing to the disk, using an external hard drive? You can actually do it. By default, write caching is not enabled for external drives because these removable devices tend to lose their data if it is unplugged too fast. So, when using this setting, be careful not to unplug it too fast. To change it, just enter in Device Manager into the search box of the Start Menu. Go to the external hard drive that you want to enable write caching and double click on it to make the Properties screen appear. Make the setting “Optimize for performance” and then click on OK to continue. Restart your computer to complete the set up. And you are now with a faster drive!
