low disk space warnings

I have windows XP service pack2 and am continually getting low disk space pop ups regarding my local disk F. Should I ignore these warnings in that I hear that Windows XP SP2 does report false low disk space readings a lot?

It's your computer so it's your choice. I know I would be paying attention if a low disk space warning came up on my computers.

Buy a bigger hard drive, or uninstall all of the unwanted apps, and data files such as music / movies you have downloaded.

That should give you more room...

You can also compress the disc files.

start > all programs > accessaries > system tools > disc clean-up

in the box check all the boxes and it will clean old files and compress the files

in the same application there is "more option" box select this and check the "remove all but the latest restore points" and apply and ok out.

All the actions will be performed...in some cases it may take a bit of time!

Usually this means your hard drive is filling up and there is good advice above.
If you look at your drive F properties and it appears you have more than double you RAM size left on the hard drive it could be another issue.

I've seen some malware that uses malware program to hide data on you computer. So a Spyware/virus scan couldn't hurt either.
Also this can occur from a failing hard drive. If sectors on the hard drive start failing, the data is automatically moved and that location is marked as bad by the hard drive and can no longer have data written to it. As this continues it starts to have less and less good sectors to write to.

If you wish to input directions for doing something...make sure that all directions are posted...please correct the statement to include the full link to the repair.
