Looking for a solution to disk failure!

Hi people, I have been using my disk for quite a long time but the other day I heard the drive making some noise and had to restart the system again. But when I did that the disk would not boot and I fear that the data might be deleted or lost. So, if you people have any know about the ways to get this done right or if you can at least suggest me the ways to handle this …it will be a great help.

If you have important data on the drive I suggest you use a professional recovery service like Ontrack
Ontrack will analyze the drive for free and provide you a list of recoverable files.

Your other option is software recovery. I haven't used any for a while so I don't have any one in particular to suggest.

Hi Jacky,

You can mount that disk as a secondary drive, and try to use any of the following free data recovery tools from here to recover your data.

01 - Slave the drive to another computer.
02 - Install Spinrite on that computer.
03 - Try and recover your data.

This is where making daily backups comes in to it's own. So it's a pain in the arse doing it, but Spinrites going to cost you as will any other data recovery service...
