In-mail Chat on Gmail

I don't know how long this has been up but I just noticed it for the first time today. It looks pretty awesome and I might be using it when it comes out.

Gmail chat was launced last monday, It has really good and very useful features like sending instant messages with one click, see when your contacts are online and save the chat history like an e-mail message.

It looks like it could be fun, but none of my contacts are using Gmail... I've invited them, but they don't care to have an account.

Shame on them! :mad:

I saw a friend using it a little while ago (week or so ago) and thought it must be a new feature, so I signed into Gmail and nothing! He was like, heh?! so later on I read through the new literature about it (that you linked to) and found out that it only worked if you had it set to US English...and I have (or should I say, HAD) mine set to UK English, so I simply switched them over and I got a nice little message saying something about the new features of googletalk - viola!

The moral of the story is, always change you language settings and see what happens! :p

This is just another move to try to make Google Talk more famous. I'm sure it didn't have the success many people thought.

Google chat would be more handy if it wasn't down that often.

In general, I've noticed that Gmail seems do be down or having some slowdown problems lately.

I didn't like it because it took me 5 minutes to load it up so that i could access my mail.

i think gmail is ok...but then again i don't use it that often...i also haven't tried using gmail chat yet because i don't know who among my friends are using gmail yet...

I am too fond of google and it's new features and the best of all is the chat feature in gmail account itself now they have even upgraded it last week just check it

I am a bit confused about this. Can you use it to set up your own static chat room or is it more like google's im?
