How to Prevent Stacking of Windows on the Taskbar?

If you are using Windows 7, you are well aware of the fact that when you open a particular application multiple times, they would appear stacked on just one tab. This feature is perfect if you normally open a large number of applications. On the other hand, other users are not happy with finding a window that they need from a list. This tip shows you how you can disable this default feature in Windows 7 systems.

To begin, right-click on the taskbar.

Click on Properties. This will open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window.

Go to the Taskbar tab. Under Taskbar appearance, go to the Taskbar buttons options.

Click on the drop-down menu and select the "Never Combine" option.

Click on Apply and then click on OK.

After following this steps, your Taskbar will now be a bit similar to the one that you had in Windows XP. Now, in any case that you have too many open applications, you may also set your taskbar preferences to "Combine when taskbar is full". This will stack the same applications just like it did by default but ONLY when the taskbar is filled with many applications.
