How to Insert a Copyright Mark in a Word document

Whenever we create MS Word documents there are times when we need to use special symbols within the content that we are writing. One of the most common symbols we use is the copyright symbol. It looks like a small letter C inside a circle. If you are using an MS Word version that has an AutoCorrect feature, it is easy to insert a copyright mark. All you need to do is to type “c” in lowercase surrounded by parentheses. Word will instantly convert these three characters into a copyright symbol.

However, if you have turned off the AutoCorrect feature, there are other steps you can take to insert this symbol. You can press Ctrl+ALT+C on your keyboard or you may follow the steps below using your mouse.

1. Launch the Symbol dialog box by showing the Insert tab of the ribbon. Then, click on symbol, and then navigate to More Symbols (if you have Word 2007) or choose Symbol from the Insert menu (if you have an older version of Word).
2. Click on the Special Characters tab.
3. Choose the Copyright symbol from the list of available characters on your screen.
4. Click on OK to close the window.
