How do I resurrect F8 commands?
 

:confused: For some odd reason, I cannot access anything from the F8 button...which cuts me off from "Safe Mode." ...and the other commands. Searched the net but don't seem to find a workable solution that I have not already covered. It's probably some short simple process, or a tick that wasn't ticked... My senior's brain is having more "moments" than usual lately. :confused:

Please do not offer up "beginners" processes. I'm too long in the tooth to have missed any of those. Not to say, that I don't need reminding once in a while.

Respond to me directly please...as well as here, I forget about my posts as soon as I post them...bummer.

"msconfig" command or bootsafe program
 

For Windows XP:

Click the Windows Start button
Click RUN
Type MSCONFIG, press Enter
Click on the Boot tab

Put a check mark on /SAFEBOOT
Put a check mark on Minimal
Click Apply, click OK, restart your computer

For Windows Vista:
(its essentially the same process, but take note of the slight difference in the interface of MSCONFIG
Click the Windows Start button
Click RUN
Type MSCONFIG, press Enter
Click on the Boot tab

Put a check mark on /SAFEBOOT
Put a check mark on Minimal
Click Apply, click OK, restart your computer

When you done with your work in safe mode, open msconfig in safe mode and unclick the check box Safe boot and click Apply and OK

1. Download BootSafe and save it to your Desktop (or any location of your choice)
2. Double click the BootSafe icon to start the program
3. Select which Safe Mode you wish to boot - Minimal, Networking (typical), or Repair
4. Click the Reboot button
5. Once you have booted into Safe Mode, you can perform any actions needed, such as scanning for viruses, spyware, adware, malware or repairing a system component
6. When you have completed your tasks, simply run BootSafe again and select the Normal Restart option and click the Reboot button and your computer will reboot in Normal Mode
