How to disable access to the Registry in Windows 7?

Many times we do not know what we are doing with the registry. If we really do not know what we are doing in the Registry it can really mess up and you can land up in doing something which we are not supposed to do.

We can disable the access to the registry using the Using Local Group Policy Editor.
This method is available in all versions of windows other than the Home Version of windows. The following steps will help you how to do so.

Step 1: Go to start and type gpedit.msc in the search box.
Step 2: A window will open up. Go through the following menu options on the left pane.

User Configuration \ Administrative Templates
And select System.

Step 3: Under the setting column in the right pane, double-click on Prevent access to registry editing tools.
Step 4: A new window will open up, Select the Enabled radio button. Click on OK and Close the Group policy editor.

Now if you try to go to the registry then a pop up will come up where it says registry editing has been disable by the administrator.
