How To Add Encrypt / Decrypt Options On The Right Click Menu In Windows 7

Once you start using the encryption and decryption you will soon get addicted to it. Encrypting files is one of the best features to protect your data from being stolen. Windows 7 provides an amazing feature to add Encrypt / Decrypt Options on the right click menu, which makes the whole process very easy.

But Windows 7 does not have this feature by default. A bit of tweaking in the registry will allow you to make the best of this feature. Below are the steps:

Step 1: Launch the Register Editor by typing “regedit.exe” in the Start Menu search box.

Step 2: Now navigate through “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cu rrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced”

Step 3: Now on the right side of the panel, you need to create a 32 bit DWORD. Name it as “EncryptionContextMenu” and set its value as 1.

Step 4: Now right click on the file that you want Encrypt and click on the option labeled as “Encrypt”

Step 5: Now a dialog box pops out, where you can simply choose the recommended option and click on OK button.

That is all. Once you encrypt any particular file, name of that file changes into GREEN color which indicates that the file in encrypted.

And again right click on the file that is needed to be decrypted and choose the option labeled as “Decrypt.”
