Dual booting Vista-XPpro

I have read the articles on dual booting, but am unsure if it what I want to do will work. I have just purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium installed and I want to put the Hard Drive out of my old computer into it. It had windows XPpro and all my programs that i used before old computer doed. Is it posible to dual boot using this copy of XP. Can I then boot to this drive for Xp and use all my programs that are there.
Hope you can point me in the right direction.

my same answer applies here as it did on another forum. The files are accesable across drives the same as partitions, but any program which places information in the registry required for running will not work. You will have access to the programs but for most applications they will not work on an OS which is not their host OS, even if it is the same machine.
The Operating Systems are separate no matter where they are located.
