Do you think that Google's Gbuy will out do Ebay Paypal?

Do you think that Google's Gbuy will out do Ebay's Paypal? I know Paypal pretty much dominates the market for internet payments. I wonder how much of a competition they will be. I know their is EGold in Europe. But doesnt seem to be to popular. And I know their is also Stormpay.

I wouldn't say it will out do Paypal, but would be good competitor to it.
We really need a good competitor to Paypal which is having a monopoly.

I agree with this statement. I think Google may have to offer an incentive to maybe get people to join their service.... and make it better than the terms Paypal has.

It will be interesting to see how things develop.

I dont think it will out do them. Because it has been there for quite a while, and is quite popular.

The incentive to join google would have to be the ease of use factor.

I use google as my home page (as do many people), I also use gmail, and I would probably use Gbuy as well.

Now if I could open up my browser and auto log in to my google home page and see my email, Gbuy and the web, how much easier would that be? To keep everything in one place?

Kinda like MSN home but without the added pain of it having any thing to do with Microsoft.

If Google market ANY product well enough and give people wheat they want Then I think Google could be a very major force in the internet market place.

That's a good opinion. I personally use www.ninemsn.com.au as my homepage as it is Msn of Australia. And also it is more colourful and not as plain as Google. Recently i opened my Gmail and it had something about some chat thing. And it took me 10 minutes to load into my mail, and so since i have not used my Gmail.:(

I love my gMail, but i hate the site, i agree, so i just have my msgs forwarded to another account.
As for Gbuy... i wish it all the best, but Ebay has just been around too long. The average user will not like change, so the people who try Gbuy, will likely be using both sites.

Definitely, everybody trust google. So paypal must be scared to death right now because google will take over all the online payment system by storm.
Gbuy will be the next best thing that will happen in the net.I will probably use Gbuy services.

Competition is always better

Paypal\'s interface/functionality has essentially remained unchanged for the past five years.
A little competition should get their innovation juices going again.
One thing I hope Gbuy has is some synergistic way of taking advantage of other Google Services, like:
  • tracking eBay shipments automatically with Gmail and Google Maps
  • Having a Gbuy folder in Gmail that keeps copies of all Gbuy transactions
  • Giving advertisers an option to use Gbuy as a form of payment so you can buy directly from Adsense ad
  • Being able to get incentives from advertisers that add to your Gbuy balance

E-cash has been largely unsucessful on the internet. Paypal has become nothing more than a person-to-person payment system largely limited to eBay\'s economy. Hopefully, Google has better luck with Gbuy and make it a true e-cash system that spans the whole internet.

Just my 2 g-cents :icon_razz:

Gbuy could give Paypal a real run for their money, but it won\'t be easy. The great thing about all things Google is that its services are user friendly and minimalist. Paypal is, too. Google usually has a leg up with the minimalism thing, but Paypal already has that. Moreover, it has tens of millions of users that are satisfied with it.

I think Gbuy needs to look at where Paypal fails and make improvements there. Do a search on "paypal" and you immediately see sites that center around paypal horror stories, e.g. tuition money held, etc.
