Disable Aero Shake in Windows 7

One of the exciting new features in Windows 7 is the option where you can take hold of a window using the title bar and “shake” it back and forth to minimize all running windows leaving out the window you are presently using. It’s a cool feature of Windows 7, but not everyone would want to use it. If you’re one of these people, you can follow any of the 2 tutorials below to disable Aero Shake.

Manual Registry Hack

Launch the regedit.exe from the start menu search or run box, and then locate the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Wind ows

As soon as you are there, right-click on the Windows key, make a new key and name it Explorer.

Then, right-click on the right side of the window, make a new 32-bit DWORD using the following settings:

* Name: NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts
* Value: 1

Once you’ve made this, you would need to log off and log back on for the new settings to take effect.

Using Group Policy Editor

1. Key in gpedit.msc on the RUN box or the Start menu search box and press Enter. It will launch the Group Policy Editor.

2. Then go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Desktop

3. Go to the right pane and double-click on the "Turn off Aero Shake window minimizing mouse gesture" option and change its value to "Enabled".

4. You’re done! Aero Shake has been successfully disabled in your system.
