cant load XP for dual boot
 

Hiya all. I have been trying to make my Vista machine dual boot. Followed all the steps in the wizard and when I get to inserting XP disk, the load windows option is grayed out and I cant click on it. How do I get past this? Also, the reading I have been doing says use Vista dvd to fix boot rec. My system did not come with this dvd. How do i proceed? I think vista is on the hd somewhere but not sure how to access it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The drive in the machine is Sata 350 gig.

A friendly suggestion: make sure every scrap of data is backed up.
go to vista, if hp start menu make recovery discs. or similar for different brands.

be warned: 90% of the time in dual boot vista will ask to run disk check on startup and become VERY unstable.

use bootus and install bootmgr to make sure you CAN boot. Some cases dont let you go to repair pc or safe mode because it cant find ANY operating system.

Try slipstreaming your XP. This sometimes helps for some weird reason.
