Ata Raid 1200a

I have a pc that has an adaptec ata raid 1200a. I just want to reformat the one IDE hard drive and get rid of everything on it. Do I have to manually uninstall the raid configuration?

how many drives are in the raid? what kind of raid configuration is it? raid 5? or are you just mirroring (raid 1)?
