Asus P5GD1-VM or P5WD2-E Premium
 

My system presently uses the P5GD1-VM. I have the P5WD21-E Premium available. Is it worth the change? What benefit would I get? My applications are: browsing, DVD authoring/conversions, Video editing.

Can anyone advise me?

Hard to say for sure since I haven't used either boards, however just looking at the specs the Premium looks like a real good board and will probably give you some sort of boost overall. Here are just a few links that have already done a thorough job of reviewing the premium board.
