As far as i know.. no.

Even if archiving your files was reasonable, they would have to be extracted even if temporarily to run, as compressed data is not the same as uncompressed data.

Archiving is meant to be used for just that. Files which are not to be accessed regularly or not at all for a long time. I assume you are looking to save space on your drive? If so, hdds are not that expensive anymore, you would be best to simply expand yourf memory.
